The PLEDGE IN action

What action looks like in the workplace

Around the world, companies of all sizes are bringing the Working with Cancer pledge to life. From policies and programs to partnerships and personal stories, each case study offers inspiration, insight, and a reminder that meaningful change is possible in every workplace.

At Publicis, coaching builds resilience

Employees impacted by cancer are often left to navigate their journeys alone. To address this, Publicis Groupe tapped into Merge Leadership’s Healing Spaces program to build a culture of care, resilience, and belonging. Through the program, Publicis Groupe employees receive expert coaching in a structured, supportive environment where they can connect, share experiences, and receive personalized guidance.

Beiersdorf supports employees worldwide

As one of the pledge’s founding partners, Beiersdorf launched a Global Critical Illness Policy to provide meaningful, consistent support to employees around the world. The policy reflects the company’s commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where care goes beyond words and truly transforms lives.

At Sanofi, support comes in many forms

“Cancer & Work: Acting Together” is Sanofi’s 360° approach to addressing the financial, emotional, social, and professional needs of employees impacted by cancer or other critical illnesses. In addition to securing the job, salary, and benefits of any employee for up to twelve months, the program also offers a network of support so that all employees feel empowered to bring their best selves to work.

L’Oréal doubles down on cancer support

Introduced in 2023, L’Oréal’s “All the Way With You” program offers financial, psychological, and practical assistance to employees with cancer. As part of the company's broader Share & Care initiative, “All the Way With You” reinforces L’Oréal’s commitment to addressing serious health challenges and fostering a supportive environment at work.

Ford Otosan offers full-spectrum support

Recognizing that the cancer experience impacts more than just physical health, Ford Otosan launched their Birlikte Aşarız (“We Overcome Together”) project — a comprehensive program designed to support employees through the physical and emotional challenges of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Since its launch in 2023, the program has continued to identify ways to support employees affected by cancer.

Nestlé creates a community of support at work with THRIVE Ability Network

Established in 2019, Nestlé USA’s THRIVE Ability Network employee resource group fosters a supportive workplace community for employees, including those affected by cancer, by connecting them to others with similar experiences. The group’s mission is to enable empowerment and belonging at work as employees come together to share their stories and experiences, and build resilience. Today, the THRIVE network has expanded to include the disability community as well as mental wellness initiatives, and more than 1,000 Nestlé employees find support, peer-to-peer connections and solidarity through THRIVE.

Paramount offers support to employees caring for a loved one

Paramount understands that caregiving itself can be a full-time job, so the company offers 6 weeks of paid caregiving leave to support employees who are taking care of someone impacted by cancer. The policy gives eligible employees the ability to take time off to support a family member as they undergo treatment or recover from a procedure. Paramount also offers paid leave for bone marrow and organ donors, which can be useful for employees donating to a loved one as well as those donating to someone they don’t know.

AbbVie transforms employee support from the inside out

AbbVie conducted focus groups with employees to understand the best ways to support those whose lives have been touched by cancer themselves, as a caregiver or people leader. In response, AbbVie has curated its cancer resources to directly address the identified needs. Today, employees have access to personalized care navigation and expert medical opinions to ensure the right cancer diagnosis and best treatment plan, access to workplace flexibility and caregiver leave, resources for people leaders to help them best support their employee, and more.

For Lloyds Banking Group, pledging unlocked a company-wide conversation

When Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) first signed the Working with Cancer pledge in 2023, they initiated a major communications effort to share their commitment and learn from their colleagues. This simple act resulted in an outpouring of support, with more than 600 colleagues sharing their stories and participating in the early design of new support programs. Since then, LBG has launched a variety of initiatives including monthly support calls, manager training sessions, and a peer support community. With research-based actions and the backing of top leadership, LBG has made significant strides in fostering open dialogue and supporting those impacted by cancer.

Publicis makes early detection a priority

Publicis Groupe recognized that supporting employees impacted by cancer starts long before a diagnosis, so the company launched Time to Screen to empower employees to prioritize preventive care. From an inspiring global message from the company’s CEO to onsite screenings and at-home screening kits, the initiative removes hurdles that keep people from life-saving checks. And it’s already boosting screening rates.
